About Alec Johnson
Originally from England (born 1978), I have been living in Thailand since 2006.
Initially, I was living in Bangkok, but in January 2008 moved to the peace and tranquility of Nong Khai, which is in the North Eastern region of Thailand known as Isaan.
Whilst living in Bangkok, my wife, May, and I used to visit Nong Khai frequently. I had often wished that there was a reliable source of information online that I could turn to that would tell me where to stay, or what I to see and do in the region. Whilst there were one or two sites with such information, I found them to be sparse in their coverage of Nong Khai.
Once I had moved to live in Nong Khai, I found that I needed other types of information, more focused for residents. Things like where to find a plumber, electrician, dentist or such like. I could not find any such site with this information.
So, in January 2009, I started building Nong Khai Information.com in order to pass on the knowledge that I have gained through living here. I hope that it can be a useful resource for people either visiting or living in Nong Khai.
My educational background is in engineering, though I also worked in the pharmaceuticals industry for a number of years. However, I have been working primarily in the field of web design and development since 2003. This time has largely been spent with a UK Tourism website, www.touristnetuk.com, for whom I still also work. Tourist Net UK offers tourist information and online booking for all types of accommodation throughout the UK.
